Led by Lighting Director Vincent Dayries, a Hawai’i Stage crew delivered a networked grandMA3 rig for the Hawai’i Academy of Recording Arts’ annual celebration of Hawai’i’s music
HONOLULU, July 13, 2026: Hawai’i Stage provided lighting for the 49th annual Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards, held Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the Sheraton Waikīkī. Presented each year by the Hawai’i Academy of Recording Arts (HARA), the awards honor recordings created, produced or engineered and primarily distributed in Hawai’i.
Lighting Director Vincent Dayries led a design built on professional touring-grade gear, including Vari-Lite VL3600s, Martin MAC Ones, Volux Phantoms, Astera AX9s and Chroma-Q Color Force fixtures. The rig ran from a grandMA3 console over an Obsidian network, the same class of control used on major concert tours.
The show was planned well before load-in. Pre-production and event CAD work shaped the design and the plot ahead of time, so the team arrived at the venue ready to build. A Hawai’i Stage crew of lighting technicians, a master electrician and production hands handled the load-in, show and strike, with dedicated crew on rehearsal and operation. Hawai’i Stage also supplied the draping that framed the stage.
“A show like this is won in the preparation. Vincent and our crew planned it, built it and ran it with the same standards we bring to concerts and corporate productions across the islands. Lighting the night that honors Hawai’i’s music is something we’re proud of, and we’re proud to do it at home,” said Neldon Mamuad, Division President of Hawai’i Stage.
The evening’s biggest winner was Ei Nei, which took Album of the Year, Group of the Year, Favorite Entertainer of the Year, and Single and Song of the Year for “Hawai’i Forever.” Other winners included Kimié Miner, Izik and Baba Tavares.
